PhD students take on 3MT Challenge
03 July 2017
Good luck to Waikato Management School PhD students Jessica Pasisi, Long Yang, Mercy Kiremu and Muhammad Irfan, who have been selected for the heats of this year's Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition.
The three heats will be held over three days, 4-6 July. Students, staff and members of the public are welcome to attend.
- Heat 2 on Wednesday, 5 July at 10.30am: Jessica Pasisi (PhD in Management Communication) and Long Yang (PhD in Marketing) will give their presentations in S.G.01.
- Heat 3 on Thursday, 6 July at 2.30pm: Mercy Kiremu (PhD in Finance) and Muhammad (PhD in Economics) will give their presentations in S.G.01.
The 3MT competition challenges doctoral research candidates to explain the significance of their thesis in a compelling way to a non-specialist audience in just three minutes.
3MT is not an exercise in trivialising or 'dumbing-down' research but forces students to consolidate their ideas and crystallise their research discoveries.
The finals of the Waikato 3MT Competition will be held on Wednesday, 16 August at 7pm in the Gallagher Academy of Performing Arts.
The overall winner will then go on to represent the University of Waikato at the Asia Pacific 3MT Competition on 29 September.
